Rauniyar removed as vice-chancellor of BP health academy

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Thursday approved the proposal of the Health Ministry to remove Professor Raj Kumar Rauniyar, vice-chancellor of the BP Koirala Academy of Health Sciences, from his post.“Yes, we got the approval letter from the Prime Minister’s office,” Mahesh Chaurasia, personal aide to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav, said.
According to Chaurasia, a senate meeting held two weeks ago at the official residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had unanimously approved the Health Ministry’s proposal to fire Rauniyar.
DPM Yadav, who is also the pro-chancellor of the academy, had recommended that the prime minister relieve Rauniyar of his duties on the ground of the senate decision.
The pro-chancellor has recommends the senate decision to the prime Minister, who is the chancellor of the BP health academy.
The Health Ministry said that it would forward the PM’s approval to Rauniyar at the earliest.
“We have also written to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority to probe Rauniyar on corruption charges,” Mahendra Shrestha, spokesperson for the ministry, said.
