OTTAWA: Once the biggest magazine publisher in Canada, Rogers Media announced on Wednesday the sale of its last seven magazine brands—including Maclean’s and Chatelaine—to a former rival for an undisclosed sum. Toronto Life publisher St. Joseph Communications will also acquire Today’s Parent, and HELLO! Canada, as well as digital publications Flare and Canadian Business. Under the deal, which is expected to close next month, all current employees will be offered jobs at SJC. In a statement, SJC chief executive Tony Gagliano said the company is confident “that we can help transform these brands so they may prosper in the quickly changing

media landscape.” Rogers Media started selling off or closing many of its other titles—which numbered more than 200 at its peak—a few years ago to focus on its broadcasting assets. (AFP)
