Missing home

- GANESH BAHADUR MALI

Mar 27, 2019-

My grandmother knocked the door of my room and I woke up

She brought tea and chapati in my bed

And she brought my school uniform

And when I returned from school

Mother was cooking my favourite food

Grandma, grandpa, father, sister, and me

Were watching movies in the TV room

But suddenly, I woke up

And realised that I was dreaming

My parents feel that their child is happy

But they are unaware of my feelings

They don’t know my pain

Of staying away from home

When they ask me, how are you?

I know how much my heart pains while I say I am fine,

When they ask me, had your dinner?

How do they know my stomach is only half filled

I feel like crying,

When I feel the absence of my granny’s embrace in my bed

When I remember the chocolates from my grandpa

When I remember the food made by my mother

When I remember the evening surprise from my father

When I remember the fights with my sister

My parents sent me here to fulfil their dream

But do they know what I want?
