NUWAKOT: Staff shortage has affected the daily services of many local units in Nuwakot district. Yobindra Singh Tamang, chairman of Dupcheshwor Rural Municipality, said since the ward offices do not have secretaries, all secretarial responsibilities are being handled by assistants. “We have been unable to implement the budget due to lack of employees,” he said. “Dupcheshwor Rural Municipality is short of 75 employees.” The health posts in Panchakanya Rural Municipality are also reeling with staff shortage. There are no auxiliary health workers in health posts, and this has burdened the auxiliary nurse midwives. The rural municipality needs 76 employees for smooth operation of daily administrative works and public services. At Belkotgadhi Rural Municipality, 115 positions are vacant. “We are facing difficulty running daily affairs with limited employees,” said Mayor Rajendra Raman Khanal. (PR)
