NCC recommends revising goods list
The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has asked the government to amend the list of products under Nepal Trade Integration Strategy 2010 as their export performance has been dismal. The government had already been working on revising the list containing 19 products and services before the chamber made its request.
An NCC delegation met with Commerce Secretary Naindra Prasad Upadhyay on Thursday and asked him to implement the country’s trade policy to boost exports.
Similarly, NCC President Rajesh Kaji Shrestha urged the government to adopt measures to reduce import and export costs, explore new markets to promote exports and expand the participation of the private sector in international trade fairs.
Commerce Secretary Upadhyay said the ministry would work to resolve trade related problems in collaboration with the private sector. “We need the chamber’s support to make market inspections effective,” said Upadhyay, adding that the NCC should also play an effective role in fulfilling its social responsibility.
