UCPN (M) to support UML candidate for PM’s post

The CPN-UML has already decided to nominate its Chairman Oli for the post of Prime Minister.
A meeting of the party Standing Committee took such decision in an indirect manner.
According to UCPN (Maoist) leader Giri Raj Mani Pokharel, the party decided to form the national consensus government by honouring the 16-point pact that paved the way for the formation of a national consensus government.
The party had stressed on the need for forming a national consensus government including the major three political forces, though the process has begun for forming the new government through a majority process.
The UCPN (Maoist) has put forward an eight-point policy document for joining the government in which the party has mentioned the issue of national sovereignty in the number one point.
The document includes other issues such as addressing the demands of agitating groups, amendment and implementation of the new constitution, short-term and long-term solution to the ongoing blockade imposed by India, reconstruction works in the aftermath of earthquake, addressing the demands of oppressed farmers and labourers, and Dalit among other marganilised communities, prioritise economic prosperity and give momentum to the issues related to the peace process.
“We will join the government if grounds are created for the implementation of these issues,” said leader Pokharel.
