Dengue has affected as many as 347 patients in Mahottari in past one month, the District Health Office (DHO) said.

Rajib Jha, chief of the DHO, said the disease has mostly affected the residents of Bardibas. 

Of the 347 cases recorded in past one month, 327 were from Bardibas.

Twenty-two patients tested positive for dengue on Wednesday alone, Jha said, adding that 27 cases were diagnosed on Tuesday.

Several health facilities are running out of RDT (rapid diagnostic test) kits and medicines due to the sudden explosion of dengue incidents.

The centre has not sent the test kits and the medicines, Jha said. 

The DHO has been conducting blood sample tests at health facilities in Bardibas, Gaushala, Jaleshwor, Samasi, Pipara, Ramgopalpur and Loharpatti. 

The district health authority has also started a drive to destroy mosquito larvae in the affected areas.

High fever, headache, rashes in the body and body ache are common symptoms of dengue.
