Ramji Ghale of Makwanpur and currently residing at Ram Bazaar Kalikamarga killed his son Gypan Ghale by slitting his throat with a knife at around 2 am today.
After murdering his son, Ghale, 40, also tried to kill his pregnant wife Sumitra Thakuri by slitting her throat with the same knife.
Shortly after attempting to murder his wife, he also tried to kill himself by slitting own throat, police said.
Sumitra is undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital in Ramghat.
Later, doctors removed the dead baby from the mother’s womb by undergoing surgery.
Incapacitated in the incident, Ramji is receiving treatment at the Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara.
According to a preliminary investigation, other persons are not involved in the incident, said Om Bahadur Rana, Chief at the District Police Office, Kaski.
Police said that Ghale couple and their son were sleeping in the same room when the incident occurred. Sumitra’s mother was sleeping in another room.
Immediately after the incident, Sumitra went to her mother’s room to wake her up saying “Ramji tried to kill me. He will also kill you,”
Later, mother informed neighbours about the incident. Neighbours then rushed Sumitra, who was seriously injured in the incident, to the hospital.
The incident site is just a stone’s throw away from the ward police office.
