The annual budget presented by Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel has earmarked Rs 11.46 billion for recurrent expenditure and Rs 16.62 billion for capital expenditure.
The budget aims to bring down the poverty in the Province 5 to 10 percent from the existing 26 percent. The budget has prioritised the building of urban infrastructure and development of integrated settlement considering physical infrastructure as the base of development.
In order to fund the expenses of the upcoming fiscal year, the Province 5 government has a target to raise Rs 2.40 billion in revenue. The budget has stressed on the development of industry, tourism, agriculture and infrastructure.
Province 5 government has put forward the policy of creating employment within the province by working together with private and cooperative sector.
Similarly, the government of Province 1 unveiled a budget of Rs 35 billion for fiscal year 2018/19 while the government of Province 2, Province 3 and Province 4, Province 7 and Karnali Province unveiled the budget of Rs 29 billion, 35 billion, Rs 24 billion, Rs 25 billion and Rs 28 billion respectively.
