Dr KC, also a Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon at the TUTH, has accused tainted officials of Tribhuvan University (TU) manipulation to appoint their candidate.
The activist criticised the government for not taking punitive action against 43 individuals, named by Gauri Bahadur Karki-led panel, to approve affiliation to National Medical College despite its lack of minimum infrastructure to start MBBS programme.
“Since the government has taken no action against the accused named by Karki committee, they are emboldened to repeat the dubious process while appointing a director,” said Dr KC.
The search committee consisting of associate professors to appoint a professor for the post is another major point that
Dr KC says is unacceptable.
“Associate Professors appointing a professor is improper. The search committee should be terminated and another committee including professors should be made,” he said.
The activist warned officials with personal stakes doing any malpractice while appointing a director for the TUTH.
He suggested transparent procedure to select a director who can manage the institution and hospital efficiently. He demanded the government to take action against the 43 officials as soon as possible.
TUTH director’s post is vacant since July 20 after Prof Dr Deepak Prakash Mahara resigned, citing family reasons.
