Bishwokarma re-arrested after court frees him

Bishwokarma, also a former minister, was arrested from the premises of Kathmandu District Court on charge of stetting fire to a cell tower of the telecom company, Ncell, in Kavre.
Spokesperson of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range DSP Mohan Kumar Thapa confirmed the Bishworkarma’s arrest soon after he was freed by the Kathmandu District Court at the orders of the apex court.
“Bishwokarma was arrested in connection to the arson incident that is being investigated by Kavre District Police. We are preparing to present him to the District Police Office at the earliest,” DSP Thapa added.
The Supreme Court had ordered the authorities to free Bishwokarma on Friday afternoon, citing that police had detained him without following standard procedure.
Police had arrested Bishwokarma, along with two other part leaders Harish Chandra Acharya of Kalikot and Man Bahadur Shrestha of Kapilvastu, from Dakshinkali area in Kathmandu on August 7 for their alleged involvement in extortion.
On August 14, the apex court had ordered the authorities to present Bishwokarma before the court within 48 hours following a habeas corpus writ filed by his son.
