Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd on Sunday appointed the national cricket team stalwarts Sharad Vesawkar and Basant Regmi as its brand ambassador for two years.Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd on Sunday appointed the national cricket team stalwarts Sharad Vesawkar and Basant Regmi as its brand ambassador for two years.
Allrounder Vesawkar and spinner Regmi are integral part of the team that recently saw Nepal earn a historic One Day International (ODI) status. Vesawkar played Nepal’s first match as an ODI nation against the hosts Netherlands on August but finger injury forced him out of the second game two days later in Amstelveen. Nepal lost the first match by 55 runs but won the thrilling second by one run on August 3. Regmi was part of the team in the two-match ODI series.
“NB Bank always steps forward to recognise and appreciate those individuals who have made extraordinary contribution for the nation and have helped unite its people. As a continuation of our efforts, today we are honoured to announce two individuals, who have always made the nation proud through their never-dying spirit and relentless pursuit—Basant Regmi and Sharad Vesawkar—brand ambassadors of NB Bank,” said the Bank in a statement.
Both the bank and players however did not reveal the details of the contracts. “Through this partnership, we hope to be able to pinpoint what we, as a financial institution, can do for the development of Nepali sports. This is only the beginning and together, I’m certain that we will be able to make a meaningful contribution in Nepali Cricket,” said NB Bank Chief Executive Officer Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana.
“It’s great to be partnering with a bank of such big stature and reputation. The few meetings that I’ve had with the bank management were very exciting and I’d like to heartily thank them for their love and support towards Nepali cricket,” said Regmi. “As a cricketer you are always looking for avenues where you can work with the corporate sector and help drive positive change. Together with NB Bank, I believe we can instigate actual projects that impact the society in a progressive way. We won’t just be limited to poster boys but will actually work together in figuring out where and how we can contribute back to Nepali sports,” said Vesawkar.
The two cricketers’ tie-up with the NB Bank follows the similar contracts to national team captain Paras Khadka and vice-captain Gyanendra Malla. Expert Education and Visa Services on Tuesday appointed Khadka as its brand ambassador for three years while Citizens Bank appointed Malla as its brand ambassador for one year on Friday.
