Nepal rolls out top health emergency services for VIPs

The Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit formed an 11-member committee led by Secretary at MoHP Dr Pushpa Chaudhary to implement for the health security services.
Bir Hospital in cooperation with other hospitals will be establishing two temporary health camps in the Soaltee Hotel’s compound—where the delegates will be staying— and the airport. Both the places will have an Onsite Logistic Ambulance (OLA) on standby.
Civil Service Hospital, Kathmandu Medical College, Bir Hospital, Norvic Hospital, Vayodha Hospital, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Patan Hospital, Medicity Hospital and Birendra Military Hospital have been mentioned to provide health services if needed.
The hospitals have been directed with different numbers of Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Isolation Emergency Room and VVIP Observation room to be kept empty during the summit.
Birendra Military Hospital has also been directed to keep an air ambulance on standby.
One Early Medical Deployment Team (EMDT) consisting of eight medical personnel including—a general and an orthopedic surgeon; MD general practitioner; medical officer; OT and Er trained nurses; health assistant and laboratory technologist—are assigned in five different hospitals of the valley.
It is assumed that a total amount of Rs 916,150 has been invested in the health security procedure for the summit. 78 satellite hospitals have also been commanded to remain prepared to provide necessary services in case of an emergency.
