Six cadres of CK Raut-led Swatantra Madhes Gathabandhan have been arrested from various places of Saptari district on Tuesday. They were arrested from Rajbiraj, Kanchanpur, and Bhardaha, among other places.

Police said the arrests were made following the Gathabandhan’s announcement to protest in Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Upendra Yadav’s programme in the district.

The protest programmes were announced after the death of activist Ram Binaya Yadav in police custody. Yadav was arrested on August 23 on the charge of showing black flags to Minister Yadav when he was arrested. He later collapsed inside the cell and was eventually brought to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital where he died.

Minister Yadav is attending a party programme in Saptari district on Tuesday afternoon.
