Mendicant donates Rs 500,000 to Old Age Home

An 85-year-old mendicant Khina Giri of Syangja has donated Rs 500,000 to Om Old Age Home in Hetauda Sub Metropolis-2. He has been living in the old age home for the last 12 years.
Giri, who begs for money in various parts of Hetauda, said,” I was able to collect Rs 500,000 by begging in the last three years. I donated the money to old age home because it is where I live.”
Giri added that he has also been giving rice and food that he got from begging to the old age home.
On the 12th Annual General Meeting of the Old Age Home on Tuesday, Chief Minister of Province-3 Dormani Paudel felicitated mendicant Giri.
Buddhi Prasad Paudel, chairman of the old age home, said mendicant Giri is one of the main donors of the Old Age Home.
“Giri has been providing support to other senior citizens of Old Age Home by begging,” he said.
Currently, there are 30 senior citizens living at the Old Age Home in Hetauda.
CM Paudel said the federal government has announced to establish an Old Age Home in each district.
“The federal government has planned to provide Rs 5,000 to each senior citizens as allowance,” said CM Paudel.
