A man has been arrested for spreading terror by planting an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Nepalgunj on Friday.
Pradeep Oli, 27, of Jajarkot was nabbed on the basis of CCTV footage, police said.
SP Arun Paudel, Chief at the District Police Office, Banke, said that Oli is not affiliated to any organisation.
“It has been found that Oli is not affiliated to any party or organisaion,” he said during a press conference organised to make him public on Friday.
Police said that Oli had gone to Simla of India five years in search of a job.
He had learnt to make home-made bomb while he was working as a labourer in India, police said.
Police said that they have confiscated Rs 41,000 in cash, a bank cheque and SIM cards of various telecom service providers from his procession.
Oli claimed that he is the chairman of an organisation called “Sundar Santa Nepal” and has been operating a commando group. Police, however, said that he is not affiliated to any organisaion.
Oli was apprehended for placing a suspicious package under the statue of communist leader Pushpa Lal Shrestha.
A bomb disposal squad of Nepal Army defused the bomb later.
Some pamphlets in the name of Commando were recovered from the incident site. Locals were terrified as the pamphlets warned that the suspicious object was a ‘powerful bomb’ and it would damage area within 300 metres periphery.
