Here is a compilation of some of the news stories you might have missed today. Here is the compilation of some of the top stories from The Kathmandu Post which you have missed through the day. We have got you covered from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s visit to Janakpur to a parliamentary committee forming a probe panel to investigate plane purchase by Nepal Airlines Corporation.
Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Janakpur with a Baraat (wedding procession) to attend the annual Bibaha Panchami festival, a special Hindu religious event. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari and Province 2 Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut. The festival will last for a week.
CM Adityanath had previously said his visit was solely cultural and not political. We will have to wait to see if his visit gets a political turn (of course don’t forget to visit us for more on that).
Here are more details about the arrival of the Indian leader in Janakpur. And here is the security arrangements and preparations for the festival.
Another big news. Acquisition of two new planes for Nepal Airlines Corporation. Corruption or no corruption?? NAC’s plan to regain control of the skies has not gone according to plan as the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee has formed a probe panel to look into the planes purchase.
The seven-member committee under Nepali Congress lawmaker Rajan KC will have 15 days to find out about the procurement details. More on that here.
Chitwan District Court fined four persons with a total of Rs 250,000 over a death of a rare one-horned rhinoceros more than two years ago. Two staff of Chitwan-based Hotel Meghauli Serai, one the then manager and another nature guide, and two others were fined with the amount when a stray electrical wire electrocuted the mammal on August 6, 2016. The wire was left unattended when the rhino, which came to graze upon some grass, stepped on it and died. Justice for the poor animal?? Don’t forget to have your say in the comments below.
