President Bidya Devi Bhandari has summoned the winter session of the federal parliament for December 26.
The government earlier had written to the President to summon the winter session of federal parliament next week.
The meeting will be held at the New Baneshwar-based International Conference Centre at 4 pm.
A summon letter sent by the Office of the President has been registered at the Parliament Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Secretariat has already started preparations for the session of the Parliament. The Secretariat said that the notice related to the meeting will be issued on Wednesday.
Parliament will have a little more than two months to revise dozens of Acts that contradict with the constitution. According to Article 304 of the constitution, any law inconsistent with it will be invalid to the extent of such inconsistency one year after the first meeting of the federal parliament.
As the federal parliament met first on March 5, the final deadline for revising all the laws is March 4, 2019.
On average, Parliament will have to endorse at least two Acts daily. The Law Ministry has identified 174 Acts that need to be amended or replaced with new ones. There were 339 Acts in effect before the promulgation of the new constitution in 2015.
The government needs to replace 23 laws while others could be aligned with the provisions of the new constitution through amendment. The government has yet to forward a single bill, Roj Nath Pandey, spokesperson for the parliament secretariat, told the Post.
On Sunday Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara asked the government to convene the House session as soon as possible.
Each bill needs to be discussed and endorsed by both the Houses before they come into effect with authentication from the President.
The last session of federal parliament was prorogued on September 27.
