Change is the only constant in our life but it is equally difficult to accept changes.We learn about various things while growing up, but the one thing that we are not taught in our classrooms or homes is the skill to unlearn. Not all changes in life are paths to success so it is important to learn balance.

We are constantly guided by society’s pre-conceived notions about career and success. It is important to understand our strengths before we blindly follow the trends. It is easy to run behind someone else’s ideas but it is difficult to persistently follow them when there is little or no interest. This can also be caused by young people’s ambition to become rich and famous overnight without much effort.

Social media can also be a factor that has been influencing this mindset in young people. We strive for bigger and better changes in life in terms of luxury and comfort, but we do not take into account the struggle and determination required for such changes to take place. For us to achieve success, we need to change our lifestyles and perspectives when it comes to many things. We need to understand the value of time and utilise it to achieve our dreams.

Sometimes, we also resist change by not looking beyond our surroundings. It is important that we travel and meet people from various classes, castes and creeds in order to understand their worldview. A simple conversation with a stranger at the right time can motivate us for the rest of our lives. It is especially important to understand our privileges and entitlements, and there is no better way than to do it through dialogue with diverse people.

To begin with, we can start keeping journals. This can be a starting point to explore our original ideas. We can find positive direction in life if we decide to accommodate necessary changes within us.
