The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted overcast skies with light to heavy rain with snowfall in various parts of the country, including Kathmandu valley, for three days.
The change in weather has been attributed to a fresh western disturbance, the MFD said.
Meteorologist Manju Basi said the country witnessed rainfall and snowfall repeatedly in the winter season due to the influence of westerly wind. She said the western and central region will see rainfall from Thursday night.
Though the weather was sunny across the country till Wednesday, the weather pattern has changed owing to the westerly wind, which has entered the country from the western region on Wednesday night.
The MFD said that various parts of western region will witness overcast skies with light rainfall while eastern and central region will see less rainfall as compared to the western region.
Most of the Himalayan districts may experience light to heavy snowfall.
The MFD has predicted that various places of western and central region will witness brief rainfall on Thursday night. There are possibilities of light rainfall in few places of eastern hilly districts.
Basi said most parts of the country would experience cloudy weather on Friday and would witness light brief rainfall in some places of eastern region. There is the possibility of light rainfall in one to two places of the central and eastern hilly districts.
Most of the places of the country will experience cloudy weather with light rainfall on Saturday. The weather will gradually change from Sunday, she said.
