The Civil Aviation Authority, Pokhara has banned paragliders from making solo flights following a series of deaths of adventure seekers while doing the sport in Pokhara.

Russian national Dmitril Stepanishin, who died while making a solo flight in Pokhara's sky on Tuesday, is the latest victim of a paragliding accident. This is the third paragliding accident this week alone.

According to Inspector Ganesh Subedi of the Kaski District Police Office, the incident occurred after he lost control of the paraglide soon after taking a solo flight from the Sarangkot Hill in Pokhara. He crashed into a hill at around 11:30 am.

Incapacitated in the accident, he was immediately rushed to the Metro City Hospital of Pokhara, where he breathed his last during the course of treatment, Subedi said.

Earlier on Sunday, Romanian national, Ebe Chisjer, 40, lost his life in a paragliding accident after he crash-landed into the Phewa Lake.

On Monday, two pilots were injured in a similar accident at Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality and Modi Rural Municipality in the district.

Issuing a notice on Tuesday afternoon, the Civil Aviation Authority office stopped solo paragliding flights effective immediately until further notice. The office halted solo flights after the foreign pilots flew beyond the specified air space.

According to Bhola Prasad Guragain, chief of the Pokhara Civil Aviation office, the flights were halted for a few days to prevent accidents.
