A trekking guide died and a Dutch national went missing in an avalanche along the Annapurna Circuit trekking route.
Police identified the deceased as Ajay Dhakal, 25, of Ganga Jamuna Rural Municipality-6, Dhading district and the missing Dutch as Bloem Vincent.
Inspector Shrawan Kumar BK of the District Police Office, Manang, said the body of Dhakal was found on Friday.
Police said that Dhakal had held a telephone conversation with his family members after he climbed down Pisang from Upper Mustang on February 26.
Police added that the duo might have climbed down from Pisang on February 27. The area has been witnessing snowfall since that day and they might have been buried in the avalanche triggered by the snowfall, police said. Telephone and mobile phone services were also disrupted thereafter.
The kin of Dhakal and the trekking company had informed police after they did not come into contact for a week.
The incident site is 14 kilometres from District Police Office in Chame in Upper Mustang.
The roads in the area have been disrupted due to avalanche.
DSP Nil Kamal Acharya of the District Police Office, Chame, said the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police personnel have been deployed to search for the missing Dutch national.
