Bhattarai to advise PM on foreign relations
The government has appointed Rajan Bhattarai, a member of the Eminent Persons Group on Nepal-India Relations, as the foreign relations adviser to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.The government has appointed Rajan Bhattarai, a member of the Eminent Persons Group on Nepal-India Relations, as the foreign relations adviser to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Bhattarai also served as the foreign relations adviser to then Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal. He had been assisting Oli as a foreign relations expert. A Cabinet meeting on Sunday night picked his name while several candidates were named for ambassadorial assignments.
Ambassadors to India, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia were nominated while the tenure of Deepak Dhital, Nepal’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, was extended until his replacement is decided.
The government also prematurely recalled Nepali Ambassador to South Africa Amrit Kumar Rai.
