Party leaders Ram Chandra Poudel, Ram Sharan Mahat, Shekhar Koirala, Shashank Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, Arjun Narsingh KC and Sujata Koirala held a meeting in Kathmandu on Monday to discuss Deuba’s leadership. They accused Deuba of violating the party’s statute and principles by nominating Gachhadar as a vice president.
The NC statute clearly stipulates the provision of only one vice president in
the party, and that post is already occupied by Bimalendra Nidhi.
The Poudel faction had reportedly urged Deuba to adhere to the party’s statute and not to take any rash decision before appointing Gachhadar.
Deuba, however, did not heed to the counsel and announced Gachhadar’s appointment, citing that the decision was taken to honour an agreement reached between the NC and Gachhadar’s former party.
Following Monday’s meeting, KC said that they have decided to no longer tolerate Deuba’s “unilateral approach” of running the party.
He accused Deuba of becoming an authoritarian figure by the day, much to
the frustration and anger of the other party leaders and supporters and at the cost of the party’s reputation.
