The Nepal Army has opened a 103-km long track from Pasagadh in Jajarkot to Supani in Tripurasundari, connecting Dolpa district to the national road network.

With this, the headquarters of 75 districts have been connected to the national road network. Humla now remains the only district that is yet to be connected to the national road network.

Of the 103 kilometre road constructed by the Army, the 14-kilometre track from Supani to Dunai-- the district headquarters of Dolpa-- was constructed with the investment of local bodies and the MP’s constituency development fund.

Locals hope that the expansion of road connectivity to Dolpa, the country’s largest district in Karnali province, will transform the pace of development in the province.

Construction of this road might also contribute in promoting and expanding tourism in Dolpa district, a local said.

The Nepal Army has stated that the highway linking Jajarkot, Rukum and Dolpa has been constructed as per the ‘feeder road’ concept.

The road’s operation will increase the market access to various products grown in Dolpa district including valuable herbal medicines.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokhrel is scheduled to inaugurate the road at Tripurasundari of Dolpa on November 20, chief of the road construction project Bishwa Bandhu Pahadi said.
