The District Police Office (DPO) on Tuesday registered the complaints filed by Durga Devi Pant, the mother Nirmala Pant, and Khadak Bista, the brother of Dilip Singh Bista who was falsely accused by Kanchanpur police of raping and murdering Nirmala on July 26.
Durga Devi has filed a complaint against the then SP Dilli Raj Bista, DSP duo Angur GC and Gyan Bahadur Sethi, Inspector duo Jagadish Bhatta and Ekindra Khadka, Sub-inspector Harihar Singh Dhami, Assistant Sub-inspector Ramsingh Dhami and Constable Chadani Saud, blaming them of destroying evidence from the site where Nirmala’s body was discovered.
Khadak Bista, meanwhile, has filed a case against former SP Dilli Raj, DSP duo GC and Sethi, and Inspector Khadka for torturing his mentally ill brother, Dilip Singh, to make him confess to the crime that he did not commit.
“Both the complaints regarding destruction of evidence and torture in custody have been registered. We will move forward as per the legal process,” said Superintendent of Police Kuber Kadayat.
He said that police would investigate into the complaints as per the suggestion of the District Attorney’s Office.
Durga Devi and Khadak had reached the DPO along with advocates and rights activists to register the case.
