French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux announced on Tuesday they had sacked boss Ricardo Gomes after only one win in the team’s last six games. Brazilian Ricardo was unusually named the side’s general manager in September as he does not hold the necessary certificates to be appointed a coach. He replaced former Chelsea midfielder Gustavo Poyet but could only guide the Matmut Atlantique side to 13th place in the table with their last win coming against lowly Dijon on January 20. Frenchman Eric Bedouet, who was the team’s official coach due to Ricardo’s lack of qualification, takes over on a temporary basis. (AFP)
