Nepal Armed Police Force Club opener Anil Sah smashed his first century in domestic Twenty20 cricket leading his team to a crushing 84-run victory Himalayan Cricket Academy in the Karnali Premier League on Saturday.
Batting first, Sah who opened for the national team last year when the team played its first ever One Day International match against the Netherlands, struck a 58-ball 102 as APF amassed a massive 192-2 in 20 overs. Himalayan, in reply, were skittled out for just 108 runs in 19.2 overs with opener Shakti Bhandari (four) and Surendra Chand (0) retired injured.
A unanimous man-of-the-match Sah smashed 15 boundaries and three sixes in his whirlwind knock sharing a 155-run partnership for the opening wicket with Sharad Vesawkar. The national team middle order batsman Vesawkar also notched up a half century making a 49-ball 51 that included four hits to the fence and three over the fence. Pradeep Airee (12) and Shankar Rana (13) remained unbeaten.
Vesawkar also starred with the ball picking up four wickets, while Puran BK and Sundeep Jora grabbed two wickets apiece. Pawan Karki was the top scorer for Himalayan making 24 runs.
In the second match of the day, Karnali XI overcome Madhya Paschim Cricket Club by 31 runs to register their second victory of the tournament. Electing to bat first, Karnali garnered 148-4 and restricted Madhya Paschim to 117-7 after Krishna Karki grabbed three wickets.
Skipper Rabindra Jung Shahi and Karki did the majority of scoring for Karnali as the two shared 69-run unbeaten partnership for the sixth wicket bailing out the team from 79-4. Shahi made a 56-ball 61 clobbering six boundaries while all round Karki smashed four boundaries and two sixes in a 27-ball cameo. Lokesh Bam contributed 17 runs. Tulsiram Ahin bagged two wickets for Madhya Paschim.
Shailendra Yadav (31) and Rajbir Singh (30) were notabale scorers for Madhya Paschim but they failed to lift the team which was undone by a disciplined bowling from Karnali. Karki conceded just 11 runs in his four-over spell with a maiden. Jitendra Singh Thakuri and Lalit Pyakurel also took a wicket each.
