CPN activist injured in police firing

BHOJPUR: An activist of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) sustained bullet injuries when a police team opened fire at Temke Maiyung Rural Municipality-1, Bhojpur, on Tuesday. Tirtharaj Ghimire, who sustained bullet injuries in his leg, was rushed to Dharan for treatment. Police Inspector Pandav Kumar Rajbanshi said the security personnel were compelled to take action after a group of about 30 CPN cadres attempted to attack a police patrol team in a local forest. The other cadres fled when the shooting started, he added. Police claimed that they recovered some explosives and documents of the Chand faction from the incident site. (PR)
