Floods wreak havoc in Gandaki

With the onset of monsoon, various parts of the Gandaki Province have been affected by floods. The incessant rainfall on Saturday night and Sunday morning have damaged several houses, bridges and structures in the province.
The rain inundated nine houses at Painyu Rural Municipality-4 in Parbat. The affected families have been displaced from their homes, while about 80 ropanis of arable land have been flooded in the district.
The flooded water also damaged a motorable bridge that connects Lamjung to Manang, and an under-construction bridge over Madi River.
Meanwhile, Sareeta Gurung, 14, of Palungtar Municipality-1 in Gorkha was killed in a flood. Aswin BK, 11, and Rajan Shrestha, 11, are reportedly missing in the same incident.
In Beshishahar Municipality-8, police rescued three people from Marsyangdi River.
