Itahari-based Sumeru Kala Kendra recently concluded an inter-school drama fest which saw the staging of a total of 67 plays.
Prior to the fest, in December, the group conducted a free workshop that trained hundreds of teachers and students regarding writing and directing plays.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, senior theatre artist Badri Adhikari, who coordinated the fest, said, “Although a small-scale endeavour, the fest provided a platform for artists who are still discovering their talents. This could go a long way in contributing to the dramatic tradition of the country...
The prosperity of a country depends on the development of its arts and culture.”
The fest concluded by honouring the 10 best plays staged at the event. Among the winners were Chhori lai Sikshya, Shanti Farkinu Parchha, Jungle ma Ek Din, Daijo Pratha ko Antya, and Harayeko Bhabisya, among others.
