In one incident, Saraswati Lodh, 24, of Gulariya-14, in Bardiya district was allegedly murdered by her husband
on May 19, 2013. Although
her family took her to the
hospital stating that she had consumed poison, the father of the deceased, Prasadi Lodhi, after 15 days, registered a complaint with the police alleging that his daughter was subjected to mental and physical abuse prior to her death.
Though police arrested
her husband, Mangal, on October 27, 2013 he was released on parole following a court order issued on November 12, 2013.
