Nepali researcher honoured in Korea
South Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Hwang Woo-yea has honoured a Nepali student Vivek Raj Shrestha.Devendra Sambahanphe
Shrestha, a PhD candidate at Kwangwoon University, Seoul, Korea, has been conducting researches in the field of science and technology under BK Plus project from past one year. The project that was set up in 1999 has started felicitating its top researchers from 2015. Shrestha is a first person to get this felicitation.
He secured himself in the top 26 out of 14,900 researchers from 61 universities in Korea. He has written 11 research-papers in the span of four years. His research papers have been published at various international journals of USA, UK and Japan.
Shrestha has worked in diverse field in optics and photonics including the waveguide devices and free space optics. He has worked in the projects like Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES), Development of ultra high speed bidirectional multi-channel optical PCB, Research on core technologies for devices of real 3D spatial image, among others.
Prior to this, Shrestha was awarded a distinguished Silver Prize in the 21st Annual International Samsung Human-Tech Paper Awards, held on February 11, 2015.
Similarly, he has also bagged a gold medal last year in a sixth ICT paper competition.
