Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said there is no space for democracy in the communist principle.
Addressing an election rally in Phungling, the district headquarters of Taplejung, on Saturday, the NC chief charged that the communist parties were against democracy. The left alliance forged between the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) would conspire against democracy, he alleged.
“Democracy established with the sacrifice of a number of people cannot be snatched away. All the people should rise to strengthen it. Nepal is a country for all Dalits, Janajatis and Madhesis, among others. All of them should be given their rights and honour,” said Deuba.
On the occasion, Congress publicity department chief Balkrishna Khand compared UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli with CK Raut, coordinator of the “Free Madhes” campaign. “UML chief Oli and Raut are the two sides of a coin. One calls for disintegration of Madhes by raising the issue of Madhes while the other sows the seed of conflict by creating rift among the ethnic groups,” Khand claimed.
