NRNA rescues two Nepalis stranded in Uganda
Sonam Tamang of Nuwakot and Parwat Acharya of Sunsari were duped by men, who trafficked them to Uganda via Delhi-Mumbai route, promising employment at the United Nation peacekeeping force.Ekantipur Report
Delhi-based human traffickers Sabin Tamang and Ganesh Lama charged Rs. 375,000 each from the victims and took them to the African nation.
According to NRNA-Uganda Chairman Ramesh Kandel, a Nairobi-based Punjabi agent charged $1500 each from Tamang and Acharya who were brought to Kenya via Delhi-Mumbai route. They left from Delhi on August 30 and traveled from Kenya to East- African nation Uganda in a bus on October 9. They were staying at the hotel arranged by the Delhi-based main agent.
"They came in contact with NRN official Narendra Karki after they were kicked out of the hotel on December 15," said Kandel, "After they came to us, we managed to send them back home." NRNA-Uganda provided the victims with $ 980 in addition to the $ 700 sent by the victims' family for the air fare back to Nepal.
Both Tamang and Acharya have reached Nepal safely on Tuesday.
