Sit-in by conflict affected victims

Mar 10, 2014-

The national network of women human rights defenders staged a two-hour sit-in in front of Singha Durbar on Monday, drawing the attention of the authorities concerned towards the delay in ensuring justice to the women who suffered sexual violence during the conflict.

Marking the 104th international women's day, the network staged the sit-in demanding justice for the women who were raped and sexually abused during the 10 years long conflict, said programme coordinator Shristi Kolakshyapati.

This is the second phase of the protest programme and will continue further ahead as the government has not been sensitive towards a heinous crime like rape, Kolakshyapati said.

The network has been calling for justice to the victims of sexual violence as per international standard with the formation of a national committee.
