80 Nepalis stranded in Lebanon
At least 80 Nepalis staying in Lebanon without proper documents are in dire need of rescue as they have been stranded in the foreign land without return ticket.Devendra Bhattarai
According to acting Ambassador of Egypt, Kaushal Kishor Raya, who also looks after the diplomatic matters of Lebanon, 45 of those in need of rescue have been sheltered at an office based in Caritas, Beirut-the Lebanon Capital.
"The Lebanon government is helping to deport Nepalis staying n the country illegally without any fine and action," said Ray during a phone interview, "Although they have been brought to the shelter and have proper travel documents, the situation is still unclear as they don’t have tickets."
The officials of Lebanon-based Non Residential Nepali Association searched for the illegal Nepalis staying in Lebanon and also provided 45 of them with the necessary travel documents. The travel documents of the remaining 35 individuals will arrive from Cairo within a week.
Majority of the stranded Nepali migrant workers are female domestic helpers.
