PM underscores need to adopt BP's path
PM Sushil Koirala has underscored the need to follow the path adopted by former Prime Minister BP Koirala saying the latter's ideology would help in guiding the country towards prosperity.Ekantipur Report
Inaugurating a talk programme and poetry conference jointly organised by Nepal Writers' Association, Kaski and BP Koirala Memorial Trust on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late Nepali Congress leader here in Pokhara today, PM Koirala said that the policy of national unity and reconciliation promoted by BP had put an end to the decade-long armed conflict in the country and taken country towards peace.
"All the political parties have agreed to issue a democratic republic constitution within a year," said PM Koirala, who is also the President of Nepali Congress, adding the country would head towards development once it gets a new constitution.
Of late, violence has crippled the country and the people are suffering a lot, he said, expressing the hope that durable peace and stability would be established soon. Around 3.5 million Nepali youths are forced to toil in foreign lands due to lack of employment opportunity at home, he said and stressed the need for opening more factories and industries in the country to employ youths who are the 'energy' of the nation.
Books penned by Narhari Upadhyay Gautam, Netra Prasad Neupane and Jhalak Poudel were also launched on the occasion. Various writers are scheduled to present their working papers in the two-day conference.
