Chand proclaims himself RPP chairman

Leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Lokendra Bahadur Chand, has declared himself as Chairman of his party amidst a press conference on Monday.
Former Prime Minister Chand claimed he became the party Chairman as per the party's statute and the agreement forged in the party's General Convention following the retirement of RPP Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa.
Chand claimed that a consensus was formed to rule the party on a rotation basis among the senior leaders and that it was his turn after Thapa.
RPP leaders Thapa, Chand, Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana, and Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani forged a consensus to lead the party on the rotation basis during the Convention, claimed Chand.
Newly declared chairman of the party Chand stressed on the need of being sincere in politics and said he would soon call the party's central committee meeting and lead the party ahead by including all sides.
At the press conference, RPP leaders and cadres close to Thapa and Rana were not present. RSS
