The office bearers were appointed two day days after the appointment of vice-chancellor at the NAMS.
Minister for Health and Population Khagaraj Adhikari made the appointments today under the recommendation of newly elected vice chancellor Dr. Ganesh Gurung.
Minister Adhikari appointed Dr. Kiran Manandhar as registrar, Rang Bahadur Basnet as rector, Youwan Chandra Shivakoti as dean, Swyam Prakash Pandit as director and Bhupendra Basnet as executive member.
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had appointed Gurung as the vice-chancellor of the Nams on Friday. Dr. Gurung is an orthopaedics surgeon at the Bir Hospital.
Demanding that the government fill these positions and provide basic medical equipments such as MRI, CT-scan and X-ray at the hospital, around 300 resident doctors affiliated to the Nams are on strike since July 27.
The agitating doctors have also halted the emergency service at the hospital to press the government into fulfilling their demand for reforms at the country’s oldest medical institution.
