Local poll before constitution: DPM Gautam
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bamdev Gautam has said that the election of local body should be held before promulgating the new constitution.Ekantipur Report
Inaugurating the 'National Training Meet' organised by CPN-UML aligned All Nepal Peasants' Association here in the Capital on Friday, Home Minister Gautam stressed that the local election should be held before promulgating the new constitution as per the Interim Constitution.
Gautam, also CPN-UML Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Association, said, "We should follow the Interim Constitution, so the local election should be held before issuing the new constitution."
Pointing out the need for implementing the ‘Land Use Policy’ as the government has already formulated the policy, the DPM said that the policy has mentioned that houses should not be constructed in fertile land.
Gautam further stressed that the existing traditional agricultural should be commercialised. Acting Chairman of the Association, Keshav Lal Shrestha, said that the training was organised to provide knowledge on how to transform the traditional agriculture into a commercial one.
Acting Chairman Shrestha, Prof. Dr Keshav Khadka, Prof Dr Tej Kumar Shrestha, Dr Keshav Budhathoki, Dr Buddhi Ratna Khadgi and Dr Tara Gaire, will impart training in the three-day programme held at Horticulture Centre in Kirtipur.
A total of 150 people from across the country have participated in the meet, according to the Association.
