Indian Minister Rajnath not meeting Pakistani counterpart
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh has ruled out dialogue with Pakistani counterpart on the sidelines of the SAARC Home Ministers’ Conference to be held in Kathmandu on Sept 18-19.Ekantipur Report
“Terror and talks cannot go together,” Singh said in a press statement issued by Indian Ministry of Home Affairs. “There will be discussions on regional issues and agendas but no bilateral talks would be held.”
The Indian Home Ministry dismissed the news reports about possible meeting between Singh and Interior Minister of Pakistan Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan in Kathmandu, saying that such speculations were incorrect.
This is the sixth edition of SAARC Home Ministers' Conference. During the conference, Home ministers of eight South Asian countries will meet in Kathmandu to review security situation and devise a common strategy to tackle security challenges in the region.
The Saarc home ministers and officials are also expected to discuss ways of sharing information, knowledge and experiences in countering various emerging security challenges to the region posed mainly by drugs smugglings, human trafficking, terrorism, small arms smuggling and counterfeit currency smuggling.

The meeting will be held in three levels starting with joint secretary level on Sept 17 to be followed by meeting of home secretaries on Sept 18 and will finally be concluded after the ministerial meeting on Sept 19.
According to sources, Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam will take up extradition treaty between Nepal and India, among other issues, with his Indian counterpart Singh. “A proposal on the formation of a Saarc mechanism regarding human trafficking,” source said.
