On a day when 35 goals were scored in the two Group ‘B’ matches in Narayangadh, title contenders APF showered Western Region 21-0, while TAC hammered Far Western Region 14-0. Both teams have six points each.
Sajana Rana alone scored nine goals for APF with Anita Basnet netting five. Sabita Bhandari, Renuka Nagarkoti and Sapana Rai added two goals apiece, while Gita Rana scored the other goal. APF began their stranglehold in the match right from the outset. Western Region never came close to scoring.
Earlier, Far West managed to contain TAC conceding just two goals in the first half. However, they succumbed to consistent pressure from TAC who poured in 12 goals in the latter half. Deepa Neupane slammed in eight goals for the winners with Bhujiba Rai and Indira Rai adding two each.
TAC, who have already recruited a majority of Far West footballers, had opened the scoring with a 29th minute strike from Anjali Waiba.
The other goal came courtesy of a Far Western defender. Despite the huge margin defeat, Far Western coach Puskar Shahi was content to see his side play a better game in the first half.
