Consensus still elusive: Bhattarai
UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai has said that informal parleys among the political parties will be continued for a couple of days as such meeting will be more productive.Ekantipur Report
“During formal meetings only the official positions of the parties are presented. But there are a lot of unseen and untold issues,” he said, “Until these untold and knotty issues are dealt with and addressed, the deadlock won’t end.”
Bhattarai further informed that the PDCC will hold the meeting of big three parties on Thursday and Friday.
The official meeting of top brass leaders summoned for Thursday was postponed after the CPN-UML leaders did not show up for the meeting. Only the leaders of NC and UCPN (Maoist) held informal discussions after the UML leaders did not turned up for the meeting.
“Most of the post-war agreements are signed after several rounds of secret, private and informal discussions reach certain conclusions before sitting for a formal meeting,” said leader Bhattarai. “Based on the same principle, attempts are being made to forge consensus through informal and one-on-one talks rather than group meetings,” said leader Bhattarai.
The CA has extended the deadline of PDCC till November 1 to find consensus on the contentious issues of constitution writing.
