Nepal take unassailable series lead
Nepal took an unassailable 2-0 lead against the United Kingdom in the Best of Three Twenty20 Cricket Series for visually impaired women on Monday.In the second match held at the Pulchowk Engineering College grounds, Nepal defeated UK by 93 runs. The home team had also hammered UK by 169 runs in the first match on Sunday.
On Monday, Nepal made 173-3 after they were put to bat first and restricted the touring side for 80-8 in 20 overs. Bhagwati Bhattarai, Sunit Ghimire and Bhagwati Amgain picked up two wickets each for Nepal. Jade (16) and Sarah (14) were the only notable contributors for UK team.
Earlier, player-of-the-match Mankeshi Chaudhary led the Nepali attack making 77 runs. Om Maya Pun chipped 24, while Nima BC made 16. Louis, Harvey and Elyse took a wicket each for UK.
The third match of the series, which the hosts claim to be the world’s first ever bilateral game between the two visually impaired women’s team, will be played at the same venue on Tuesday.
UK made their first ever women’s visually impaired team following the Cricket Association of Blind (CAB) Nepal’s initiation of forming their squad. CAB, Nepal claims they have formed first ever visually impaired women’s cricket team in the world.
