UML urges parties to not forget statute commitment
Ruling party CPN-UML has drawn the attention of the political parties to not forget the commitment made on drafting the constitution within the stipulated time.Ekantipur Report
The Central Committee (CC) meeting of the CPN-UML, which concluded today, passed a special motion on seeking a ways to forge consensus to draft constitution on January 22.
“Constitution must be drafted by January 22 as per the commitments made by all the political parties during the Constitution Assembly (CA) election and the constitution drafting timetable passed unanimously by the CA,” read the statement issued by the party today.
Mentioning that the party will remain active till the end to forge consensus on the key contentious issues of the constitution, UML opined that the parties should opt for democratic procedure should the efforts for consensus fail on certain issues.
Standing Committee to decide leaders’ work division
Likewise, the meeting also unanimously passed the proposal on the party’s periodic work plan and work division amongst the leaders along with the suggestions from CC leaders.
Leader Pradeep Gyawali informed that the Standing Committee would pass the party’s periodic work plan and decide on work division among CC members within 10 days.
The CC meet had earlier picked members for the party’s politburo and Standing Committee.
