Population monograph and census info launched
The National Planning Commission (NPC) has launched the Population Monograph 2014 prepared by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) with technical and financial support from UNFPA.Ekantipur Report
Launching the monograph at an event organised by CBS and UNFPA on Tuesday, NPC members Dr. Swornim Wagle and Dr Yagya Bahadur Karki said the analysis and perspectives from renowned experts and development professionals of government, academic and non-government sectors help the planning body devise development policies. They also thanked CBS and UNFPA for preparing the monograph that was analysed and reviewed by renowned national experts.
At the function, UNFPA Representative Giulia Vallese said the monograph provides a broad analysis of demographic data and their interlinkages to social and economic aspects of basic human development indicators. She also thanked the Government of Switzerland for providing financial support to the overall process.
Meanwhile, at the same event NPC also launched for the first time CensusInfo, an integrated desktop and web-enabled tool that will assist us in census data dissemination. It has simple and user-friendly features that can be used to produce tables, graphs and maps for inclusion in reports, presentations and advocacy materials. CensusInfo was also prepared by CBS with technical support from CSF and UNFPA’s technical and financial support.
