Selfie-friendly phones to watch out for in 2015
Domestic smartphone dealers have planned to roll out a wide range of handsets in early 2015 with sales on an upward trajectory and customers eagerly waiting for the latest models.Suman Bashyal
Although the launch details of high-end smart phones have not been announced, Samsung, Micromax and Colors dealers have lined up a slew of mid-range handsets. The beginning of 2015 will see the launch of flagship phones like the Apple iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S 6, Sony Xperia Z 4 and LG G 4.
Dealers said that as customers look for a bigger screen, the latest chipset and operating system and high resolution cameras, models with these features are planned to be introduced in the market to fulfil their desire.
Integrated Mobility Solutions (IMS), the authorised distributor of Samsung in Nepal, is expected to launch the first Galaxy A series, the A3, A5 and A7, by early next month. Dikesh Malhotra, president of IMS, said that all these phones would come with a full metal body.
Among them, the A 7 is expected to be the biggest handset with a 5.2-inch display and 1080x1920 resolution. It will comes with 2 GB RAM and Snapdragon 1.5 GHz processor. The A3 will have a 4.5-inch screen, 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB RAM. The company has not revealed the price, but these phones will be among the brand’s mid-range models.
Similarly, Colors Mobile is all set launch the Pearl Black K 33 phablet. Targeted at youngsters who want to carry a big phone with many features at a very affordable price of approximately Rs 20,000, the device is the Colors flagship model in the premium category.
Niru Dhougoda, senior marketing executive of Teletalk, the manufacturer of Colors mobiles, said that the K 33 would have a 5.5-inch HD IPS OGS capacitive touchscreen. According to the company, it is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor and runs on Android Kitkat 4.4 OS. It sports a 13 MP rear camera with flash and a 2 MP front facing camera and is equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery.
Likewise, the authorised Micromax distributor Pashupati Trade Link will introduce the Micromax Canvas Selfie in a bid to cash in on the craze for selfie-friendly phones. The model features a 13 MP rear and front facing camera with several beautification tools like eye enhancement, face slimming, skin smoothening and teeth whitening, among others.
The smartphone is equipped with a 4.7-inch HD (720x1280p) IPS display, a 1.7 GHz MediaTek octa core processor, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage (expandable up to 32 GB). Although the company has not revealed the price, Shrutika Manandhar, the brand manager of the company, said that the phone would cost between Rs 32,000 and Rs 33,000 in the domestic market. According to her, the phone will be available from the second week of January.
