UML extends Standing Committee
The CPN-UML has expanded the Standing Committee (SC), the apex body of the party, by nominating five more senior leaders.Ekantipur Report
A meeting of UML Standing Committee held at party headquarters in Balkhu on Friday made the decision to induct five leaders into the committee.
UML Politburo members Shankar Pokhrel, Surendra Pandey, Kiran Gurung, Chhabilal Biswakarma and Satya Narayan Mandal are nominated for the Standing Committee today.
Pokhrel was defeated in the election for the post of deputy general secretary, Pandey lost for the post of general secretary and Gurung for the post of vice-chairman. Meanwhile, the Central Committee (CC) members Biswakarma and Mandal were elected under open and Tarai/Madhes quotas.
According to UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel, one more member will be nominated into party’s Standing Committee after consultations with the party’s top notch leaders. With all appointments, the UML Standing Committee will have 23 members.
Earlier on December 13, the CC meeting of UML had nominated Madhav Kumar Nepal and Mukunda Neupane as its Standing Committee members.
