NC decides to follow CA procedure for timely statute
The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has stated that the new constitution should be drafted on January 22 even by adopting the CA rules of procedures.Ekantipur Report
A meeting of NC office bearers held at Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar on Wednesday decided to suggest Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang to move ahead with the procedure if the parties fail to reach an agreement.
CA Chairman Nembang on Tuesday had asked the parties representing in the CA to forge consensus on the process to be adopted in the constitution drafting process if there is no consensus on key issues of new constitution.
NC Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel said that the party will urge Nembang to shorten the CA procedure by amending or curtailing some provisions to draft the constitution within the January 22 deadline.
NC’s view came prior to the scheduled talks between the CA Chair and top leaders of major political parties regarding the process to be adopted in the constitution drafting process, today.
